The rise of the halal industry in Malaysia – reported by Norlela Mat Lias

Halal is generally good for everyone, just as you are a Muslim or not. For example, in France, 87% of people claim that they are able to pay more for halal products produced with full integrity. Generally, halal halal is not limited to religious-related matters but also includes products or services that are deemed or safe to use and utilize.

According to a report released by the Global Islamic Economy 2016/2017, Muslims worldwide spend USD1.9 trillion on halal products and services. In this case, food and beverage products account for 62% of the total sales of halal products. Next, followed by the sale of clothing, media and recreation, travel, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.

It is also important to take note that Malaysia’s halal halal procedures are assessed with Standard Malaysia, for example, Malaysian food product standards are MS1500: 2009. This procedure continues to be implemented as they receive widespread recognition to perpetuate the brilliance of halal product compliance.

Therefore, if you wish to acquire your product as halal, please search for JAKIM or HDC web pages to get more information.

In addition, there is a new app where you will be able to load down and install from Playstore called “Verify Halal”. This application will allow you to index the product bar codes registered in the G1S system and it will certify if the product is legalized or not.
